Meals-on-Wheels is undertaking a capital campaign to build its own kitchen facility. The proposed project is the development and construction of a regional Meals-on-Wheels kitchen facility with offices and rooms for meetings and training sessions. It will be located in Midlothian, the heart of our service area covering over 1,700+ square miles, opening projections tentatively slated for Fall of 2012.
The proposed project will consist of:
- 24,470 square foot building
- 3,440 square feet for kitchen/meal production area
- 5,490 square feet for storage
- 4,380 square feet for offices and meeting/training rooms
- 2.5 acre site donated by TXI
- 1,000-1,500 meals per day initial production capacity
- 20-30 people working out of building
- Expansion capabilities
- Total estimated cost of $4 million:
- $3 million estimated cost for site, construction and equipment
- $1 million dedicated endowment for maintenance of facility
