| Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties Hosted Mayors for Meals Day on March 24, 2010
 During March, local mayors and elected officials delivered meals with Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties as part of their annual "March for Meals" campaign. Thirty-nine individuals participated in the nationwide event beginning on March 24, delivering alongside 1,000 others throughout the country.
"March For Meals" is a national campaign, initiated by Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Senior nutrition programs across the United States, like Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties, promote "March For Meals" in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives. "Mayors For Meals" is a component of March For Meals that utilizes the involvement of local Mayors and other local elected officials.
