| Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit—Rain or Shine!
This year's 22nd Annual Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit was held on Thursday, September 17 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson. Despite the inclement weather, golfers and volunteers came out to support Meals-on-Wheels and help raise over $70,000! All the monies raised will directly benefit the homebound elderly and disabled in Johnson and Ellis Counties.
"We were unsure of the outcome since the weather had been unpredictable, but we had both the morning and afternoon full!" said Ike Vera, golf chairman. "We are very thankful to everyone that faired the weather to help the needy," he added.
As in years passed, $5,000 in prizes were given away to the winning teams, and over $10,000 in raffle prizes were drawn at the event!
Top Flight, first place was Wes Parnell, Ron Parnell, Matt Rosser, and Timmy Rosser of the Jack Burton Family team; second place went to the Community Bank of Burleson team with Tim Southerland, Dusty Rumfield, Jason Williams, and Kyron Trussell; and third place was Alpha Omega Hospice with Craig Bostick, Chris Paul, David McClure, and Angelo Vu.
