| 30th Anniversary Celebration
Meals-on-Wheels
celebrated its 30th anniversary with an open house and dedication
on Thursday, October 11th at the new Cleburne offices, located at
106 E. Kilpatrick. It was a special time to pay tribute to the countless
numbers of volunteers, donors, and friends that have made 30 years
of serving the community possible.
With over 100 people in attendance from both counties, Judge Roger
Harmon thanked the organization for its work in the community, and
stated that “Meals-on-Wheels supporters are very special people
doing great things for those in need.”
In addition, two volunteers were recognized for their service to
Meals-on-Wheels with the Shirle Ayers Volunteer Appreciation
Award. It was a special presentation with the family of the
late Mr. Ayers attending the event who spoke of his longtime service
to Meals-on-Wheels. The first recipients of the award were Johnnie
Robinson of Cleburne, and Betsy Patterson of Waxahachie. Without
the ongoing dedication of volunteers, we would not be able to impact
the lives of the elderly, disabled, and their families. Thank you
for the invaluable service you provide to our homebound clients.
“Meals-on-Wheels mission is as relevant today, as it was 30
years ago…maybe even more,” said Vinsen Faris, executive
director. The organization has continued to grow, and this year
has been no different with a 35% increase in the number of meals
served. Thank you all that have generously donated your time, resources
and a little part of your life with our homebound elderly and disabled
residents to make this possible. We look forward to working with
you in the next 30 years!
