Chicken Express Provides Food County-Wide for Meals-on-Wheels
Chicken Express restaurants throughout Johnson County are helping their neighbors in need by partnering with Meals-on-Wheels for the third year in a row to put a hot meal in the hands of every Meals-on-Wheels recipient in the county. The participating locations include Alvarado, Burleson, Cleburne, and Joshua.
Over 270 noontime meals were prepared and served Tuesday, December 20, resulting in a savings of nearly $2,500 in food costs for the organization. Meals-on-Wheels volunteers helped pack and then delivered the meals into all of the service areas.
The area owners who made special accommodations for Meals-on-Wheels' deliveries are George Williams of Burleson, Keith Winnett of Cleburne and Joshua, and Keith Moore who owns locations in Alvarado and Ellis County.
"We are very excited about this ongoing project with Chicken Express!" said Lisa Hicks, Meals-on-Wheels community outreach coordinator. "We see this as a new holiday tradition for us, and it is a special treat for our clients," she added.
Meals-on-Wheels is a community-based, non-profit organization serving the homebound elderly and disabled residents throughout Johnson & Ellis County for 33 years. If you are interested in volunteering, or if you know of someone who could benefit from Meals-on-Wheels services, please call (817) 558-2840, or online at www.servingthechildrenofyesterday.org. |
